About the African American Culture Club
Purpose
The African American Culture Club (AACC) aims to assist all Pearland High School students in appreciating, embracing, and broadening their understanding of African American history and culture.
Open to ALL Pearland High School students, meetings are a platform for honest conversations. Students can discuss their personal experiences, explore challenging topics related to the African American experience at Pearland High School and in the United States, find common ground, and build a supportive community.
Mission
Goals
- To serve as an official voice for the articulation of concerns and aspirations of African American students at Pearland High School.
- To promote campus-wide understanding of the unique contributions of African Americans to the life and culture of the nation.
- To provide opportunities for all students to engage in the vital cultural and social experience of meeting, interacting with, and learning from students of diverse backgrounds.
- To promote academic excellence through initiatives that inspire and motivate members to excel academically.
- To enhance leaderships skills by empowering members to take on leadership roles and responsibilities.
- To foster a spirit of philanthropy by organizing and participating in charitable initiatives that support and uplift communities with a focus on those historically connected to our culture heritage.
- To contribute to the community by organizing and participating in events and service projects that benefit the local community and collaborating on cultural initiatives that reflect our heritage.
Membership
Membership is open to ALL students enrolled at Pearland High School and is valid for one academic school year. Students can obtain membership by completing a membership application. No fees will be required for membership.
Members may renew their membership the following academic year. Returning members must complete a new application to ensure that contact information is kept up to date.
